The Royal Canal Guided Nature Walk
Sunday May 26th
As part of Biodiversity Week, National Parks and Wildlife Service will host a guided nature walk along The Royal Canal between Killashee and Ballymahon, Co. Longford. The walk is approximately 10 KMs. We will meet at Pake Bridge, Ballymahon (aprox. 3KMs the Lanesboro side of Ballymahon on the R392) at 2 pm. A bus will then bring the group to Killashee where we will begin the walk. Booking is necessary as we need to know numbers for the bus. Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and bring a drink and snack with you. We will return to Pake Bridge, Ballymahon at 4.30 p.m. This is a free event. Booking is essential as places are limited. Native Species Weekend at Dublin Zoo
Sat, 25/26 May, 10:30 – 17:00Come and join Dublin Zoo and a wide variety of wildlife experts for a fun-filled and fact-finding weekend. Thirteen different organisations will be present with hands-on activities ranging from energy science experiment to pond-dipping for creepy-crawlies. There will be opportunities to meet with some of Ireland’s leading wildlife experts, check-out a mini sea aquarium and working wormery and see and feel all sorts of biofacts. Since 2007, Dublin Zoo, in partnership with a variety of wildlife experts and organizations, has hosted the Native Species Weekend. The aim of this weekend is to acknowledge the richness of our native flora and fauna and highlight and how everyone can play a role in conserving it. Over the weekend, wildlife experts set up in and around a marquee on the Great Lawn.
