PROTECTED SPECIES

 

All threatened species are protected by the EU Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC) or the Wildlife Act 1976.  Some of our most threatened species include (Not in order)
 

 

Birdwatch Ireland and RSPB Northern Ireland have agreed a list of priority bird species for conservation action on the island of Ireland. Red List Birds of High conservation concern include
 

 

There are seven species of plant that require immediate intervention if we are to save them from extinction.  These species are listed in the The Red Data List of Irish Plants.
