- Think before you pour liquid waste down your sink - what you pour down your drain, sink or toilet might eventually end up in our rivers or sea! Never pour fats, oils, grease or household hazardous materials such as paint thinners, solvents, unused paint or pesticides down the drain, sink or toilet.
- Care for your septic tank - de-sludge it at least once a year, to ensure that it is operating correctly and that waste isn’t seeping into the groundwater or nearby rivers and streams. All septic tanks should be constructed in accordance with the EPA’s Wastewater Treatment Manual
- Conserve water - The use or misuse of water can have a an impact on biodiversity. Water is precious so let’s conserve it. Visit http://www.taptips.ie/ for ideas on how you can conserve water in your home.
- Take action on climate change - climate change is having a major impact on biodiversity resulting in the loss of species and habitats.
